Installation

System Requirements

• Operating System: Windows 11
• Memory: 50 MB RAM (typical usage)
• Disk Space: 10 MB for application
• Additional: No additional dependencies required

Download

Official Release

Download the latest installer from the GitHub Releases page.

Files available:

• JodNote_0.1.0_x64_en-US.msi - Windows installer (recommended)
• JodNote_0.1.0_x64-setup.exe - Alternative installer

Recommended

Use the .msi installer for standard Windows installations.

Installation Steps

1. Download the Installer

Visit the releases page and download the .msi file for your system.

2. Run the Installer

Double-click the downloaded file to start the installation wizard.

3. Follow the Wizard

1. Click "Next" on the welcome screen
2. Accept the license agreement (MIT License)
3. Choose installation location (default: C:\Program Files\JodNote)
4. Click "Install"

4. Launch JodNote

After installation completes:

• JodNote will start automatically
• Look for the JodNote icon in your system tray
• Press Ctrl+Alt+J to test the global hotkey

First Launch

On first launch, JodNote will:

1. Create a local SQLite database at %APPDATA%\com.jodnote.app\jodnote.db
2. Register the global hotkey Ctrl+Alt+J
3. Minimize to the system tray

Database Location

Your notes are stored in:

C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Roaming\com.jodnote.app\jodnote.db

Verify Installation

Test that JodNote is working:

1. Press Ctrl+Alt+J - The JodNote window should appear
2. Type Test note and press Enter
3. Press Ctrl+Alt+J again and start typing to search
4. You should see your test note in the results

Startup Options

Launch at System Startup

To have JodNote start automatically when Windows boots:

1. Open JodNote settings (press Ctrl+Alt+J, then type /settings)
2. Enable "Launch at startup"
3. JodNote will now start with Windows

Uninstallation

To uninstall JodNote:

1. Open Windows Settings → Apps → Installed apps
2. Find "JodNote" in the list
3. Click the three dots → Uninstall

Data Preservation

Uninstalling JodNote does not delete your notes database. To completely remove all data, manually delete:

C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Roaming\com.jodnote.app\

Troubleshooting Installation

Installer Won't Run

• Solution: Right-click the installer and select "Run as Administrator"

"Windows protected your PC" Message

• Solution: Click "More info" → "Run anyway". This message appears because the app is not code-signed yet.

Global Hotkey Not Working

• Solution: Another application may be using Ctrl+Alt+J. Change the hotkey in Settings.

Can't Find System Tray Icon

• Solution: Click the up arrow (^) in the system tray to show hidden icons. Right-click the tray and select "Customize" to always show JodNote.
